The joint detection of the binary neutron star merger GW170817 via gravitational waves (GW)  and in numerous electromagnetic (e.m.) bands, from radio to gamma rays,  has ushered us in the era of multi-messenger astronomy.  A single observation has already impacted a number of fields, from constraints on the nuclear equation of state to alternative models of gravity, to the identification of an engine of short gamma-ray bursts and the nucleosynthesis of heavy elements. In the coming years, we anticipate that more and more astrophysical events will be discovered and their underlying processes clarified via a combination of GW and e.m. observations.
The goal of this workshop is to gather some experts to discuss a few opportunities for multimessenger and/or multiwavelength approaches to puzzling signals or objects in other channels or bands, to explore the possibility to apply techniques already successful in multi-wavelength astrophysics and cosmology to uncover new GW signals, and to enhance the sensitivity to exotic signals, via GW techniques as well as in synergy with other astroparticle probes.
