Why bother with muons? Aren't these the most boring particles?
In my talk I will argue that nothing could be further from the truth.

Muons can be copiously produced and are arguably the best studied
particles beyond those occurring in everyday matter. This makes them a
very powerful and clean probe for indirectly testing the Standard
Model, being the downfall of many a model of new physics. The well
known tension in the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon (AMM) is a
classic case and recent anomalies in b decays also involve muons.

I will discuss some current and upcoming experiments involving muons
from a theoretical point of view. Focussing on charged lepton flavour
violation I will show how to combine and fully exploit the results
from the various searches. Also, I will touch upon other efforts, such
as the search for dark photons and the recent proposal to measure the
leading hadronic contribution to the AMM through muon-electron
