Description
Séminaire commun LAPP/LAPTH I first review the status of flavour physics, discuss the importance of the interplay of high-p_T and flavour physics for the new physics search, and then show in the rare decay mode B-> K* l+ l- in an exemplary mode how well new physics signals can be separated from hadronic uncertainties using soft-collinear effective theory. Moreover, I show how to design new observable in this decay mode optimized for the detection of specific new physics structures. Finally, I briefly discuss the opportunities in the corresponding inclusive mode B-> X_s l+ l-.
