Description

The discovery of the Higgs boson was a experimental triumph, confirming the success of the Standard Model (SM) of particle physics on theoretical grounds. Yet, the SM is not a complete theory, and the energy scale at which new physics beyond it becomes manifest is not clearly understood. In this context, precision low-energy measurements constitute an important search strategy complementary to high-energy experiments. I will present new atomic bounds based on precision spectroscopy in helium, positronium and heavy elements with known clock transitions in the optical range. In the last case we use an original method based on King linearity violation. Implications for Higgs and Higgs-like bosons will be discussed.
