Description
The particle-antiparticle mixing between neutral meson states is a textbook example of quantum interference. Measurements of this interference (oscillation and CP-violating parameters) can be almost directly related to the CKM parameters of the Standard Model. These interferometric systems are also sensitive to a possible breaking of CPT symmetry. Since CPT violation implies a breaking of Lorentz invariance in a local, interacting quantum field theory, any CPT-violating parameter must also violate Lorentz invariance. In this seminar, I will give an historical overview of searches for CPT violation and Lorentz symmetry breaking in neutral mesons systems, and I will discuss the recent results in the B_d and B_s systems using data from the LHCb experiment. Finally, I will give an outlook for future measurements.
