Workshop venue
 

The workshop will be held in the "Salle Gilles Iltis" of the LPC Caen, Campus Côte de Nacre, and the presentation will be in english.

 

Arrival information
 

Caen is located about 200 km west of Paris. 

It can be reached by car, train or plane, mostly passing through Paris. 
In addition, a ferry boat connection to United Kingdom (Portsmouth) and Ouistreham (situated close to Caen) exists. 

By car: When renting a car at the airports in Paris, the trip to Caen will take about 2h30 (without traffic jam). Most car rental agencies are available in the airport terminals, see this page. The Highway toll will be: 14.10 € For a roadmap to Caen, visitViamichelin website or Mappy website

By train: When travelling by train you will mostly pass through Paris. High-speed train connections to Paris are possible from London, Brussels, Amsterdam, Köln, Frankfurt. It requires a 2 hours trip from Paris Saint Lazare station to Caen. The train frequency is approx. 1h30, see SNCF website. The Paris Saint Lazare train station is connected to both Paris airports (Orly and Charles de Gaulle) by the train RER B. Coming from the airports, you should head for station ‘Gare du Nord’ where you should change to RER E with the direction Saint Lazare. In the airport Orly a train shuttle Orlyval allows you to reach the RER B station. See RATP website. Consider about 1h30 to reach the train station Paris Saint Lazare. 

By plane: The Paris airports (Charles de Gaulle and Orly) are linked to European and international airports by all main airlines. Further travel to Caen is possible by rental car or by train (see map). The small airport at Caen ‘Caen-Carpiquet’ can be reached from Lyon (St. Exupery) and Paris-Orly airports. From Paris-Orly to Caen-Carpiquet the service is provided by Air France on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. From Lyon flights are available on a daily basis. A 15 minutes taxi ride allows to reach Caen downtown from the Carpiquet airport (Abbeilles Taxi: +33 2 31 52 17 89 website). 

By Ferry Boat: A ferry boat shuttle allows to reach Caen from the harbor Portsmouth in United Kingdom via Ouistreham (15 km from Caen). For details see Brittany Ferries websiste

 

Local transportation
 

Access to/from the advised hotels from/to the University and from/to Caen downtown is easy and quick by tramway A.  The tramway station "Campus" is located 100 meters away from the workshop location (Web site of the local transport company : http://www.twisto.fr/index.php)
