Description
After introducing the basics of planar map enumeration, I will
describe the peeling process associated to random planar maps. The
description of the latter relies heavily on the study of random walks
on the integers, of which I will review some important aspects.
Several applications of the peeling process will be presented,
including the study of the geometry of large random planar maps.
