In 1933, the Nobel Prize in Physics was awarded jointly to Erwin Schrödinger and Paul Adrien Maurice Dirac "for the discovery of new productive forms of atomic theory".
In 1962, the Nobel Prize in Physics was awarded to Lev Landau "for his pioneering theories for condensed matter, especially liquid helium".
Nowadays, the sub-atomic world is part of our everyday life. Theoretical physics is the mental gateway between the mysteries of our past to the progress of our future.
We have chosen these two famous physicists for our meeting because they are the symbol of successful theoretical physics.
They were also brilliant teachers and they have influenced generations of scientists and have contributed to a better world. Following the quotation of Poincaré: " Thought is only a flash in the middle of a long night, but all is in that flash", we could say that both Dirac and Landau, have enlightened the darkness of our ignorance.
Our meeting, in the international year of light, is therefore placed under the authority of these great scientists. The aim of our meeting is to develop the scientific cooperation and the educational projects between France and Russia.
" I consider that I understand an equation when I can predict the properties of its solutions, without actually solving it"
Paul Dirac
"The Science allows us to discover and understand the phenomena that the human mind would not be able to imagine"
Lev Landau
