Heavy Higgs: Standard Model and Beyond

par Sara Diglio (University of Melbourne - ATLAS)

Description
LHC experiments have discovered a new boson with mass of about 126 GeV and properties consistent with the Standard Model (SM) Higgs. The next stage will be to determine whether this Higgs-like particle is fully responsible for the generation of the masses of the other SM particles. If not, then additional new physics must be present to play this role. I will consider models with a light neutral Higgs boson that is part of an extended Higgs sector and I will discuss a phenomenological approach to search for a second scalar particle in the high mass region by using the current searches in the SM framework.
