Description
A number of extensions to the Standard Model results in particles that are neutral, weakly-coupled, and have macroscopic decay lengths – which can be comparable with the LHC detector dimensions. ATLAS has recently completed just such a search – looking for hidden valley pions from a Higgs decay. Specific triggers and offline analysis techniques were developed to take advantage of the unique geometry and construction of the ATLAS detector. These techniques and the results will be discussed in this seminar.
