Description
The jet energy resolution for the future ILC collider should be improved by a factor of two to fully extract the performance of the machine. One of the approaches to achieve this is the so-called particle flow, where the all single particles in a jet are reconstructed respectively so that the individual treatment of particles drastically improves the jet energy resolution. This method requires the calorimeter to have unprecedented granularity in both longitudinal and lateral segmentation, and I then will introduce a unique concept in this title which is one of the candidate technologies for ILC calorimeter. In this concept, the electromagnetic calorimeter is segmented in scintillator strips of a little finger size, and each strip is read out by using a Pixelated Photon Detector which is an extremely small size photon counter developed in the last ten years.
In this talk I will discuss how we extract the cell size of the "width of strip", the construction of the prototype and its performance, and what we need to overcome to realize such a scintillator strip calorimeter.
