Description

The NFS 4.1 client has recently been merged into the mainline Linux kernel. That makes the protocol an attractive choice as a both a local area and wide area file access protocol. dCache has supported NFS 4.1 for the last one and a half years. This talk briefly discusses the advantages of NFS 4.1 over its successors NFS 4 and NFS3, followed by a report on the latest performance comparisons of the dCache implementation of this protocol. Finally, the talk compares the protocol to the other protocols supported by dCache: xrootd, DCAP, HTTP, WebDAV and SRM.
