Description
Preliminary study, in progress. The reactor’s performance is highly dependent on the plasma elongation. However above certain elongation, the plasma can get destabilized in vertical motion, leading to the onset of n=0 resistive wall instability. This can be detrimental for the tokamak due to the increased heat fluxes to the first wall, so optimization of the PF coils system must ensure the vertical controllability of the plasma.
