Description
The use of the eddy current thermography (ECT) at room temperature for the control of structural defects in multilayer HTS tapes is investigated numerically and experimentally. An experimental setup has been developed where a rotating magnet wheel inductor is used to avoid the thermal disturbance of current supplied inductors. A rapid 3-D magnetothermal modeling approach is also developed for the interpretation of the results and the simulation of situations that cannot be reproduced experimentally. The obtained results are processing and highlight the possibility of the structural control of such tapes at room temperature using ECT.
