Description

Building on the resounding success of the first campaign (2015–2021), this second experimental campaign further establishes AGATA as a leading gamma-ray tracking array using radioactive beams, delivering high-impact results in nuclear structure, astrophysics and dynamics.

During the first campaign, AGATA was coupled with VAMOS and other detectors, such as NEDA, DIAMANT, FATIMA, PARIS and MUGAST, to achieve high-precision experiments. This demonstrated the potential of combining state-of-the-art instrumentation with stable and radioactive ion beams, resulting in over 40 scientific papers being published.

The 2029–2030(1) campaign will leverage SPIRAL1’s radioactive ion beams. The complementarity of AGATA’s gamma-ray detection, GRIT’s particle identification, and VAMOS’s ion identification will enable unprecedented measurements of rare isotopes.

wo scientific workshops, in 2024 and 2025, have established the framework for the campaign, which will prioritize experiments on nuclear structure, reaction mechanisms, and astrophysical processes. This will capitalize on SPIRAL1’s capability to produce high-intensity, high-purity re-accelerated radioactive beams. The use of new cryogenic targets will create new opportunities in several fields.

This presentation will detail the campaign's preparation, its organization, and its scientific prospects.
