Loc. Basovizza 302 Trieste, Italy
Description

The first Technology Forum of the Astronomy Competence Center Pilot project will take place at the Basovizza Observing Station of the INAF-Astronomical Observatory of Trieste from Tuesday 7 to Thursday 9 October 2025.

Registration for in person attendance is closed, but it is still possible to register for remote attendance.

The Technology Forum is meant to engage the community on the topics of technical standards and interoperability frameworks to enable FAIR data services in the domains of astronomy, heliospheric physics, planetary science, and astro-particle physics.

The target audience includes ESFRIs, other research infrastructures, and experts in the various interoperability frameworks.

The goal is to share technical expertise and best practices in the implementation of FAIR enabling technologies, and the use and development of open standards.

The format consists in topical sessions followed by practical hack-a-thon sessions for hands-on work in a collaborative mode.

A list of potential hack-a-thon topics is already available, a preliminary time table of existing/foreseen contributions is set up. Schedule for talks will be finalised the week before the event, hack-a-thon topics distribution among the possible time slots will be defined at the event itslef.

The venue is not (easily) reachable by public means of transportation, a shuttle service will be provided to get to the venue in the morning and get back to Trieste city center at the end of the working day (see timetable for details).

Remote attendance will cover the main meeting sessions, hack-a-thon topics will possibly not have a remote solution available.
