Description
Borexino is a real-time detector for low energy Solar neutrino spectroscopy, installed in the underground laboratories at Gran Sasso, Italy, and running since May 2007. Borexino is specifically designed to measure the mono-energetic 7Be rate via neutrino-electron elastic scattering in ultra-pure organic scintillation liquid. The exceptional radio-purity reached in the scintillator target increases the Borexino potential to probe also pep, CNO, low energy (3-5 MeV) 8B neutrinos, and geoneutrinos. I will discuss the already obtained results and the future of Borexino.
