Description

In this contribution, I will review recent developments in very high energy (VHE; 30 GeV–100 TeV) gamma-ray astronomy. I will highlight key observational results obtained with the current generation of imaging atmospheric Cherenkov telescopes such as H.E.S.S., MAGIC, and VERITAS.
The talk will focus on new insights gained from observations of a wide variety of astrophysical sources, both Galactic and extragalactic, and will discuss how these findings advance our understanding of non-thermal processes in the Universe. I will give also an outlook on first results obtained by upcoming instruments of the Cherenkov Telescope Array Observatory (CTAO).
