Nest survival of northern lapwings (Vanellus vanellus) and their response to repeated human presence: Preliminary results from two years of following nests in northern France
The northern lapwing population in Europe has been declining for decades, with local variations in the speed and scope of the declines. Here, we will see preliminary estimates of the nest survival rates of northern lapwings breeding in two regions of France: Alsace in the East and the Channel coast from Calais to the Baie de Somme in the West. We will also see how incubating lapwings react to efforts to study them, and how these reactions relate to conditions around the nest site.
