Discussion

- Update of the onboarding issues by JS: new template and update status

- If Zenodo file already exists, we propose to auto-generate it from codemeta, but first generation of codemeta from zenodo currently not fully supported.

      Status categories

The status of the processes includes various combinations of the questions

      1. Has an onboarding process been triggered
      2. Is there concrete software at zenodo
      3. Is the software in the ESCAPE group of zenodo
      4. Has the review been performed (check codemeta)

We have to clarify the procedure for the following types of projects:

      • Fully onboarded but no official "curation" triggered (1,2,3,!4)
      • at Zenodo but not added to community (2,!3)
      • "Internal" projects at Zenodo without onboarding (!1,2,3,!4)
      • Onboarding processes with undefined software (1,!2)
      • No onboarding process but request for merge (!1,2,3)
      • No onboarding started at all (!1-4)

      General questions

      • Must all "software" in ESCAPE community be onboarded? (see Wavefier projects)
        • All projects inside the group have to be onboarded
        • retrigger group upload for all projects (check codemeta)
      • Do we review Internal projects?
        • Get issues and merge request
        • remove ZenodoCI from community - should be doable by group owner (test by Thomas)
      • What requirements do we have on documentation (see DMdwarfs)?
        • How to run and how to use the software (also by example) must be explained, link to entry point must be in Codemeta ("Readme" entry)
        • What to require of 1) Getting started 2) Examples/Applications 3) Concepts 4) API? -> require documentation to ensure usability of the library, depending on the type of software
      • If receiving merge requests without onboarding
        • contact authors, try to get onboarding started
        • else, close (refuse) merge request

      Backlog

      • How to treat "removals"?
