Agenda
The onboarding talk of the HCG-16 project which was considered as test case can be found here with the recording at the cloud.
present: Aard Keimpema, Axel Donath, Christian Tacke, Dave Morris, Elena Cuoco, Enrique Garcia, Gareth Hughes, Harro Verkouter, Jutta Schnabel, Mark Kettenis, Matthias Füßling, Sara Bertocco, Sebastian Luna-Valero, Stelios Voutsinas, Susana Sánchez, Tamás Gál, Thomas Vuillaume, Valentin Pestel
Introduction to the HCG-16 project
The project is introduced by Sebastian: In the use case, the plots shown in this paper are offered as Jupyter notebooks on mybinder with all relevant code available at github, starting from the processing stage of the data.
Adapting the Use Case to ESCAPE environment
The goal would be to run the use case within the ESCAPE environment:
- The user discovers data in the data catalogue or wants to access the data from the publication
Instead of running it on mybinder, the user
- discovers a Jupyter hub instance offered through the ESAP platform
- pulls the relevant environment through the OSSR
- runs the notebooks
Relevant metadata
-
the zenodo interface can serve for the discovery of the workflow from ESAP (analogous to pulling a repository through Zenodo DOI in mybinder)
-
the "environment.yml" defines the environment for the notebooks in the repository
-
the workflow is defined in the repository - for integration, the question of granularity (full flow in one step or modularization?) has to be addressed.
Further work
- Sebastian will work on the integration of the HCG-16 project
- Integrating the code to Zenodo through the OSSR will be supported by Thomas
- Discovery from Zenodo in ESAP will be supported by Stelios
- midterm goal: rehosting the data through ESCAPE
Next meeting: end of April, beginning May: poll
