Description

The Large Synoptic Survey Telescope will produce the largest catalogs for stars and galaxies. The will allow cosmology to enter the Extremely Big Data era. In order to enable petascale data analysis, a Highly Distributed Database named Qserv is developed by Stanford University and LPC Clermont. Google is very interested in this project and currently provide (infinite?) cloud infrastructure and expertise to Qserv team. The Qserv cloud architect, Fabrice Jammes, will describe the state of the overall project and will show the pro and cons of using external cloud service versus local infrastructure.
