Search for dark matter at the LHC

Description

The existence of non-baryonic dark matter as a component of the Universe is inferred from the observation of its gravitational interaction. If dark matter interacts weakly with the Standard Model particles it would be produced at the LHC, escaping the detector and leaving a large missing transverse momentum. The ATLAS and CMS detectors at the LHC has developed a broad and systematic search program for production of dark matter. In this seminar, I will start with a review of some of the significant results, and later with a focus on the reuslts of searching for dark matter in association with a Higgs boson, a Z boson, and a top quark at the LHC, together with the design, technical challenges, interpretation, and possible further evolution.
