Description
Comparison of the time-dependent CP violation parameters of "penguin dominated modes" governed by b -> qqs,~q=u,d,s transitions, with those of decays governed by b -> ccs (golden modes) are a probe to New Physics. A time-dependent amplitude analysis of B0->Ks pi+pi- decays is performed to extract the CP violation parameters of the penguin dominated modes f0(980)Ks and rho0(770)Ks, and direct CP asymmetries of K*(892)pi. The results are obtained from a data sample of (383 +/-3) millions BBbar decays, collected with the BaBar detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy B factory at SLAC.
The measurements on rho0(770) Ks and K(892)pi are used as inputs to a phenomenological analysis of B -> K*pi and B -> rho K decays based mainly on SU(2) isospin symmetry and a couple of theoretical hypothesis (CPS/GPSZ method). The CPS/GPSZ method is tested with the current data. A prospective study, based on the expected increase in precision from measurements at LHCb, and at future programs such as Super-B or Belle-upgrade, illustrates the physics potential of this approach.
