2e Réunion GT Theorie (5 mai 2017)

Presents: Hong-Kou Emi, Van Kolck Ubirajara, Wallon Samuel, Urban Michael, Lansberg Jean-Philippe, Sazdjian Hagop, Blossier Benoît, Badoual Mathilde.

1. Discussion and comments about the array with the members in the different theory groups.

LPT: 21 members in 2 years, 4 emeritus

For comparison, 38 members in 2001.

2 members will retire within 2 years, one is leaving for another lab.

ITA: 7 members (one will retire within 2 years). The hope to have someone in replacement is very low.

Only one ITA for computer maintenance (and one researcher doing lattice).

Lab council: decision of new ITA.

Scientific council: for new positions. Try to achieve a general agreement.

IPN: 12 members, 4 emeritus.

1 ITA affected to the theory group : retire this year. Another secretary should come.

20% of the mission department.

IPN/IMNC: délégation de gestion CNRS. Not the case of LPT.

IMNC: 3 members, 2 emeritus 

4 members in the administraitve service.

LAL: 1 member

several services, secretary for each service.

2. Discussion about the budgets of the different groups.

IPN: SBNA+ AP IN2P3+ contracts (Labex for students, PICS, LIA ....)

At IN2P3: have to pay for computers . INP: they don't have AP, but the researchers do not pay their big computers: we have to pay attention to all the aspects.

Total: 120 keuros, 82 keuros for the "soutient de base "(IN2P3+University)

No month for visitors.

PhD students: 1 IN2P3 actually, 1 IPN  

ED: Pheniics

2 postdocs IN2P3. The numbers fluctuate.

LPT: CNRS+University: 95 keuros (have to be checked)

3/5 months for visitors each year (INP) (~ O(10k€))

ED: PIF/Pheniics

LPT, LAL and IMNC have to do the same homework for budget.

Problem of the first institute : IN2P3/INP. All the members of a lab belong to the first institute. If IN2P3 is the first institute of the new big lab, the members of LPT would belong to IN2P3. IPhT in Strasbourg: different institutes are feeding different groups in the lab.

IMNC gets money from SDV (second institute after IN2P3).

3. Organisation de la "journée des théoriciens de la vallée"

First proposition:  6 students speaking during 1h (3 LTP, 2 IPN, 1 IMNC) +20 min LTP, 15 IPN, 5 LAL, 5'IMNC+ BBQ

Second propostion: talks by  scientific topics: seems to be better, without any talks of the students: + 1 talk about the groups.

Long discussion about the definition of the different topics

- Cosmo/gravit/ math physics: 

- Stat/ bio: (9)

- Nuclear physics

- BSM

- hadronic physics/QCD

15' per topics + 5' of questions.

12, 13 or 14 of June.
