Description

We are discussing the possibility to join the effort to start a new, peer-reviewed journal on “Computing and Software for Big Science”. At the interface of the physical and computer sciences, this should be dedicated to the publication of high-quality material originating from the collective effort by the scientific community to address the special and ever more demanding computing and software needs. At its core will be nuclear, particle and astro-particle physics (i.e. IN2P3 core topics), as well as observational astronomy and cosmology, fields in which experimental research is increasingly organised in large and global collaborations. Related contributions from other major experimental facilities, such as e.g. high-brilliance light sources, are also welcome.

This journal should help those colleagues at IN2P3 who work at the interface between computing and physics. The initiative for this journal has been started by colleagues at CERN and at KIT, and is supported by Springer.

We would like to discuss with interested colleagues working at IN2P3 laboratories who might be in the position to publish in such a journal

  • whether there is a need by our IN2P3 community for such a journal
  • what the perimeter of the journal should be
  • how this can fit in with the existing journals
  • suggestions on the structure of the journal

We intend to give video conference access to the meeting. In case you want to participate via Renavisio by Scopia or phone, please contact Volker (e-mail below).
