Description

Third International Summer School of QCD

Presentation:

This iteration of the school series will focus on aspects of QCD of particular interest to the future Electron Ion Collider (EIC) to be constructed in the US, or to the Large Hadron electron Collider (LHeC) at CERN, especially on aspects related to the small xBj (high energy) regime. We also aim at bridging the gap between physicists more specialized in the electromagnetic probe (JLab) and more typical heavy ion physicists (BNL, LHC, etc).

Indeed, since several decades, the study of dense systems in QCD at asymptotical energies have been one of the most challenging topic theoretically, phenomenologically and experimentally. Important theoretical progresses have been made in our understanding of such systems. In view of the above mentioned very promising existing or future experimental facilities, the aim of the present school is to give a complete and comprehensive overview of the various aspects of the field.

To keep the best possible balance between the necessary introductory  aspects to be delivered in order to enter this difficult field, and the most advanced and up-to-date topics to be covered, the school will last two weeks, with more than 50 hours of lectures, supplemented by free time for discussions and dedicated sessions for seminars. In the same pedagogical spirit, all lectures will be delivered on the blackboard.

The two first schools of this series took place in 2012, entitled "QCD prospects for future ep and eA colliders" and in 2014, entitled "Correlations between partons in nucleons".

Registration:  extended deadline 30th of May

The inscription to the school is free of charge. Coffee breaks, lunches are included

(note: except participants from RBI-T-Winning nodes, in order to avoid double financing).

Financial support for PhD students:  deadline 9th of May for applications

A few grants will be available to partially support PhD students for their accommodation and travelling expenses. Applications for these grants should be sent to:

Franck Sabatié

Samuel Wallon

It should include a short cv, a publications list and a short letter of motivation.
