Description
One century after the discovery of cosmic rays by V. Hess, many questions on their origin, nature, and transport still remain open. In particular, the study and characterisation of Galactic propagation processes allow us to constrain acceleration processes, but also to test the existence of exotic contributions such as the annihilation of dark-matter particles or the presence of nearby astrophysical sources. In this talk I will give an overview of the most commonly used propagation model, namely the diffusion model, and confront it with recent cosmic-ray data from experiments such as the Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer (AMS-02). I will then discuss the implications for indirect dark-matter searches.
