Description
Effective Lagrangians represent an important, model independent tool for studying new physics through the analysis of its impact at the electroweak scale. Depending on whether the new physics' dynamics is based on a linear or on a non-linear implementation of the electroweak symmetry breaking, a linear or a chiral Effective Lagrangian is expected to be most appropriate.
The pattern of deviations from Standard Model predictions is different for the two descriptions: in this talk I will briefly present the main low-energy signals that allow to recognize whether the observed "Higgs" scalar is a dynamical (composite) particle or rather an elementary one.
