Hi Max, very well written paper! I think that it is so far the most complete paper on large micromegas for hadron calorimetry. Firstly, as I was deeply involved in development and tests of the 1st m2 chamber, please keep me in the paper author list. It is honour for me to be a part of it! Here are several minor commends: Page 1: In author list: J. Jacquemier should be written together on a single line In abstract you say that there are some advantages in comparison to more conventional detectors. I think that you should add some examples such as: free of space charged effects, .... Are there any drawbacks? Missing Keywords: MPGD, Micromegas, Hadron calorimetry, linear colder, ... lines: 87: (or ASU) -> (ASU) 111: it reduce heat but also power consumption 129: why there is space between line 129 and 130? Same for lines 150/151, 327/328, 550/551 186: was found -> was reached (this sound better for me as it indicates kind of achievement) 273: p1/p3 -> p1/p4 274: p2/p3 -> p2/p5 312: ([17]) -> [17] 324: set at -> set to 335: are of a few -> are a few/ are several 356: beam line H4 -> H4 beam line table 3: error is expressed in % or in absolute value? 546: I should put all thresholds in MIP unites: 0.1(?)MIP, 2 MIP, 5 MIP and in brackets in fC. It is not good to mix two different units for the same thing 553: 10 cm radius seems to me a bit large. Moliare radius for iron is 1.7 cm, and 99% of shower is contained within 3.5 Rm. So I should expect a radius of about 1.7*3.5 = 6 cm. Also in case of sampling calorimeter the shower radius can be larger due to active layers (low density) contribution. It should be good to explain why you found the shower radius larger. 557: I think that is more easy to identify the electromagnetic part using the pater recognition algorithm (part of PFA package) 637: good -> excellent Generally I should change notation for voltage from V to U, which is more common. Also I should rename the parameters, so it is clear what they express, for instance on line 496: p0 -> eff, p1, p2 -> U1, U2, .... There is still a bit of space at the end. What about to add Acknowledgement? That's it. Other corrections are still possible during next week as I am planning to submit it to NIMA on Friday the 18th of April. Kind regards Max
