Description
Seminaire du Consortium de Physique Theorique de Strasbourg (CPTS)

Loop Quantum Gravity (LQG) is an attempt to reconcile gravity with the principles of quantum mechanics. Even if we are still far from a complete solution of the problem, we have very interesting and exciting results. The most striking one is certainly that space appears as fundamentally discrete at the Planck scale in the sense that there exists quanta of space. There are numerous consequences of this fact: the resolution of the initial singularity in cosmology, a microscopical explanation of Black Holes thermodynamics etc...

This seminar will be devoted to present the basis of LQG and some of its consequences.
