Description
Along with dwarf spheroidal galaxies and the Galactic centre, galaxy clusters have been flagged as potentially important targets for indirect searches of dark matter. After a brief overview of the astrophysical background, issues and recent results, I will present the detection prospects in these massive dark matter halos, based on the investigation of the 1743 clusters from the recent MCXC meta-catalogue. In particular, I will compare the 'single source' approach versus 'stacking' analysis, in the light of current and future gamma-ray observatories. This analysis is performed for both dark matter annihilation and decay and the question of disentangling such signal from that of cosmic ray origin will also be addressed.
