Description
OPERA is a long-baseline neutrino oscillation experiment designed to find tau-neutrinos appearance in the muon-neutrino beam CNGS sent from CERN to LNGS, 730 km away. A measurement of the flight time of neutrinos between CERN and the OPERA detector at the underground Gran Sasso laboratory has indicated an early arrival time of CNGS neutrinos with respect to the time computed assuming the speed of light.
The talk will present the main aspects of the measurement, including timing and geodesy issues and the analysis procedure. More recent results using a beam structured in time with very short bunches will be described. Information on the last additional cross checks and an outlook of further measurements will be given.
