DESCRIPTION:Speakers: Giada Caneva Santoro (Niels Bohr Institute\, Denmark
)\n\nGW250114 is the loudest gravitational-wave signal observed to date. I
ts ringdown is best described by more than one quasi-normal mode: both the
fundamental mode and its first overtone are resolved\, and their frequenc
ies and damping times agree with the Kerr prediction for the remnant. Comp
aring the horizon area of the final black hole\, inferred from the ringdow
n\, with those of the two initial black holes\, inferred from the inspiral
\, provides an observational test of Hawking’s area theorem. I will disc
uss the methods behind these measurements and what they tell us about the
 final black hole.\n \n \n \n \nzoom connection : https://cern.zoom.us/
