 he discovery of the Higgs boson completed the particle content of the Stan
 dard Model (SM)\, but fundamental questions remain unanswered: What is dar
 k matter? Why is our Universe dominated by matter rather than antimatter? 
 The Higgs may provide a unique connection between these questions and phys
 ics at the energy frontier.\nIn many theories beyond the SM\, the Higgs se
 ctor is extended\, leading not only to new particles and deviations in Hig
 gs properties\, but also to a very different history of the early Universe
 . A particularly intriguing possibility is a first-order electroweak phase
  transition\, which could have shaped the evolution of the early Universe 
 and left observable signatures that we can search for today.\nIn this coll
 oquium\, I will use electroweak baryogenesis as an example to illustrate h
 ow Higgs physics can connect particle physics with cosmology. I will discu
 ss how the underlying new physics can be explored through complementary pr
 obes\, ranging from collider and electric-dipole-moment experiments to gra
 vitational waves and even primordial black holes. Together\, these complem
 entary observations may allow us to use the Higgs as a probe of the therma
 l history of the early Universe.\n \nAbout the speaker\nShinya Kanemura i
 s a professor at the University of Osaka\, Japan. He received his Ph.D. fr
 om the U. of Osaka in 1996 and subsequently held research positions at KEK
 \, Karlsruhe Institute of Technology\, Michigan State University\, the U. 
 of Osaka\, and the U. of Toyama. In 2017\, he returned to the U. of Osaka 
 as a full professor. His main research field is particle phenomenology\, w
 ith particular emphasis on extended Higgs sectors and their connections to
  physics beyond the Standard Model. He has also worked on various models a
 ddressing the origin of neutrino masses\, dark matter\, and the baryon asy
 mmetry of the Universe\, as well as their phenomenological implications.\n
