DESCRIPTION:Speakers: Andrea Palermo\n\nThe Quark-Gluon Plasma (QGP) produ
ced in heavy-ion collisions provides a unique opportunity to probe a genui
nely quantum property of matter\, such as spin\, in a fluid-dynamic regime
. According to the most successful model\, spin polarization is produced b
y vortices and shear flow. However\, some puzzles remain which may require
the introduction of an independent thermodynamic spin variable to be solv
ed. In this talk\, after reviewing the status of polarization physics in h
eavy ion collisions\, I will discuss the effect of such a spin potential i
 n a simple setup of a gas of fermions in a boost-invariant fluid. I will c
ompute thermodynamic functions exactly\, show that the only source of pola
rization is the spin potential\, and discuss phenomenological implications
  for QGP physics.\n\nhttps://indico.in2p3.fr/event/40058/
