DESCRIPTION:Speakers: Francesco Costanza (LAPP)\, Luis Manzanillas (Manzan
illas)\n\nUnderstanding the fundamental properties of neutrinos and the na
ture of dark matter are two major challenges in modern physics. Both requi
re detecting events that\, if they exist\, are extremely rare and easily h
idden by background signals. In this talk\, I will give an overview of cur
rent strategies to search for such rare events and explain the experimenta
l challenges shared by both fields. I will begin with the scientific motiv
ations for these searches and then show why reducing background is essenti
al to make any detection possible. I will then present examples of detecto
r technologies\, especially scintillators and cryogenic bolometers. I will
present the TESSERACT experiment\, a future dark-matter search to which t
he French community contributes through the development of new cryogenic d
etectors with the TES4DM project\, to be installed at the Modane Undergrou
nd Laboratory (LSM)\, with first science data expected in 2028.\n\nhttps:/
