This presentation summarizes my first year’s work. After having briefly introduced the interest and principles of electron identification in the ATLAS experiment, I will present my work on systematic comparison of electron identification variables in simulation and data. Then, I will describe how these variables are combined into a machine learning-based algorithm used for electron identification and the future improvements that will be made to it
