Description
Type Ia supernovae (SNe Ia) provide us with unique tool for measuring extragalactic distances and determining cosmological parameters. As a result, the precise and self-consistent calibration for peak luminosities of SNe Ia becomes extremely crucial and thus is critically scrutized for cosmological explorations. In this talk, I will review various calibration techniques currently used to standardise the peak luminsosity of SNe Ia. Possible difference in various calibration procedures, and its effect on the derived SN distances will be discussed. As an example, I will show the comparison results using the SNLS data of the first year.
