Round Table

  • WP3:
    • Onboarding in progress, looking for software contributions
    • Need to define interfaces between the inventory and ESFRIs
    • Concern over how to manage publishing vs packaging vs deployment when there is a need to separate them out for different use cases
  • Harro:
    • ADASS conference ongoing
    • WP4 is opening the archives to standard interfaces
    • On the issue of PIDs, they learned that with datacite the metadata is standardized, and then data can be harvested with automated tools
  • Martino:
    • Paper accepted (from T4.3)
  • Rosie/Xavi (WP2):
    • MECHANICS project not accepted (use of commercial cloud);
    • have implemented a layer at CERN as a test case to enable to connect to HPC, clouds, etc; EGO-Virgo will be a test case
    • FDR is ready to go
  • Zheng:
    • WP3 + 5 - many correlated issues - organising a common call
    • AAI workshop 25+26 Nov, WP2 will gove overview, come up with use cases for how to integrate new AAI + plan
    • No resources linked to WP5 except Jupyterhub testbed, makes it hard to demonstrate use cases

Topics for later:

  • PIDs
  • AAI
  • software publishing/deployment/packaging
  • deployment test bed and resources

      EOSC-Future

      • From EC review, request to reduce cost of WP 9,10,11
        • WP10,11 to merge (new WP10), 60PM (20%) reduction (applied in T10.1 and 10.3)
        • All clusters reduced to 6PM in 10.3 - for ESCAPE this is a reduction from 9PM - essentially scientific stakeholder engagement - citizen science proposals
      • EOSC-Future steering group is meeting eith DGCNCT tomorrow
        • we get de-brief on Friday telecon ESCAPE and PANOSC not represented in steering)
      • WP6 budget is not changing - the TSP's for ESCAPE are untouched
        • but open calls of other clusters are not allowable -> they have to move to the ESCAPE model (also PANOSC model)
      • Technical coordination - EC insisted that there be a clear technical coordinator, clear scientific coordinator, both separate from Technopolis
        • Technical - EGI+GEANT have agreed between them - but this is not announced yet; essentially it is EGI, but we (clusters) are asking for a person to be named not just the institute
        • Scientific - the clusters are discussing between them how to propose someone (and who)

      ESCAPE - NEANIAS

      • A call last week with management of NEANIAS project (https://neanias.eu)
        • looking at cross-cutting services for EOSC and industry engagement
      • Agreed to organise a workshop in December ro understand more in detail about each other's objectives and work program
      • Potentially another mechanism to interest other areas in products from ESCAPE
