Minutes of the WP2 meeting 14/09/2009

Andrea: status of Geant 4 simulation, comparison with GEANT 3, preliminary sensitivity with "Miniboone" horn (see slides)

Marcos: preliminary slides for CERN workshop. Marcos will put a revised version of his talk on the same web page for comments.

Andrea has prepared an abstract for a poster. Discussed: mention of "Memphis" to replace "UNO". Done. The abstract has been sent to the organizers. 

A short WP2 face-to-face meeting will take place october 1st at CERN for those present at the workshop. 

Discussion of the IAP report. 

We came to the conclusions that the questions and recommendations by the panel can be dealt rather easily 

- proton driver: a discussion of these requirements now exists in the note of WP2 (first deliverable). We need to specify more clearly the requirement for pulse length (<5micros) and the interface with the proton driver (eg beam window) especially in the four horn case
- integrated approach. Considered from the start. Need to mention the environmental approach (from T2K studies)
-  optimality of 130 km ? Need to discuss with WP6. Need to mention mass hierarchy from atmosherics (Maltoni)
- four horn system. Study neeed
- 4 MW for proton driver ? See below
- Andrea will study : sensitivity versus energy with Miniboone horn, sensitivity versus power, efficiency of 4 horns. 
 He may need some help. 

Marco will prepare slide to be shown at the Euronu CB (sept. 29). If you have more input ideas etc, please send to me. 


- Annual report: to be sent by October 5th. Please prepare the "statement of resources" for each lab
and send material for the report on the activities. 

Next face-to-face WP2 meeting will take place in the period of week 47 or 48, for two days at RAL. We may also meet with WP3. A doodle will be set up.
