The discrepancies in b → s decays: Novel observables, model-building aspects and measurement with the LHCb detector

I will present the studies I performed during my thesis under the supervision of Diego Guadagnoli and Jean-François Marchand. This work is motivated by a set of results in the transitions of quarks b to s and c that show a consistent deviation with respect to the Standard Model. In this presentation I will discuss the theoretical implications of these results as well as new observables to further test them. The second part of this talk will cover the analysis of one of these new observables that I performed at LHCb.
