DESCRIPTION:Originally planned to be organized in the region of Marseille
(from Monday 11 May to Friday 15 May 2020) and cancelled due to the pandem
ic\, the next SOS edition will finally be organized fully remotely due to
the current sanitary situation.\n\nThe school will start on Monday 18 Janu
ary 2021 and end on Friday 29 January 2021. The detailed agenda will be av
ailable soon. The school is free of charge.\n\nThis seventh edition of the
IN2P3 School Of Statistics will give an overview of the concepts and tool
s used in particle physics\, astroparticle physics and cosmology when prob
abilities and statistics come into play.\nThis school is targeted towards
PhD students and senior physicists\, aiming at extending their knowledge a
nd skills in the field of statistical tools and frameworks developed for t
heir fields.\n\nThe school combines lectures and hands-on sessions. The le
ctures are subdivided into three sections:\n\n\n a reminder of the fundame
ntal concepts used in Probabilities\, Statistics and Hypothesis testing ap
plied to physics analysis\;\n the presentation of the concepts and basics
of the most popular multivariate techniques\;\n and a section dedicated to
actual multivariate tools and machine learning.\n\n\nAll lectures will be
given in English. The School Of Statistics is supported by CNRS/IN2P3.\n\
