Conventional solutions of the hierarchy problem, for example, supersymmetry and composite Higgs models are put to stringent tests at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). The limits on the new physics scale, from both direct searches and Higgs coupling measurements at the LHC Run-2, have been pushed to more than a few TeV. In this context, I will discuss the present status of composite Higgs models as a solution to the hierarchy problem, focusing on some of our recent works in this direction (arXiv: 1703.08011, 1712.07494). More recent progresses on this subject in conjunction with the results from the LHC have led to a new set of solutions to the hierarchy issue, like neutral naturalness models / relaxion / clockwork theories etc. I will also briefly discuss some of these rather unconventional (and speculative) ideas before concluding the talk.
