Restaurants:

Some randomly selected good restaurants in Marseille for dinner on Monday night (not particularly localised, but sometimes in Marseille it's worthwhile to take the time to go there):

Chez Jeannot: Large well known restaurant in beautiful location in a seaside cove serving good food (management recently changed and food much improved)

Pizzeria La bonne mère: Small and not so conveniently located near the Notre Dame de La Garde but very good pizza, some italians claim the best in Marseille

La Passarelle: Beautiful restaurant (though slightly expensive) serving locally sourced food, both outdoor and indoor seating near vieux port but away from the tourists.

L'Alimentation Generale: Excellent tapas next to la Passarelle, more reasonable.

Au falafel: Very good falafel and Israeli food (including meat) in simple restaurant with outdoor and indoor seating, good homemade pita.

And for those who don't want to go too far:

Le Relais Corse: More convenient location Corsican restaurant near recommended hotels with outdoor/indoor seating (though on busy Avenue du Prado) with good quality charcuterie/fromagerie plateaux and other tapas/main dishes.

Kyo Sushi: Japanese near Castellane, approved by local Japanese postdoc.

Alternatively there are several good restaurants on Rue Sainte, e.g. Corsican P. P. Maulio, L'Ambassade de Bretagne, La Part des Anges (wine and tapas), les Panisses )local specialties)....

The popular Cours Julien area also offers many good options for restaurants and bars, e.g. le Cours en Vert (vegetarian), La Cantinetta, Les trois Rois, Cafe Vian (Thai), La Baie du Dragon (Chinese)....
