Description
Standard, non-directional, strategies of detection of Dark Matter (DM) are ultimately limited by two non-reducible background components: the neutrons and the neutrinos. The directional detection proposes to use the existing anisotropy in the angular distribution of the DM-induced recoils in the galactic coordinates to distinguish it from mostly isotropic background. This anisotropy arises naturally from the relative motion of the Solar system within the DM halo.
After a brief review of the techniques proposed for a directional detection, the talk will focus on a MIMAC, a µ-TPC matrix detector.
