Description
Measurements of the production cross-sections of heavy flavored hadrons test the predictions of quantum chromodynamic (QCD) fragmentation and hadronization models. Further, they are essential inputs for planning LHCb’s flavor physics program and for MC generator tuning. The LHCb detector provides unique access to heavy flavor production in the forward rapidity region of the LHC’s proton-proton collisions with a detector that is tailored for flavor physics. This talk will discuss production measurements at LHCb in Run I, with a focus on charm cross-section measurements, and the preparations for measuring heavy flavor production in 13 TeV proton-proton collisions in LHC’s Run II, a new record for the greatest collision energies produced in a laboratory.
