1st of December 2014 ==================== Sabine: - Mechanical design taken from CATIA but no input from services yet - Alpine stave is based on IBL for the moment: module, foam, cooling type (1.5 mm inner diameter tubes), CO2, glue (Stycast) and flex - Alpine geometry based on CATIA model: missing ring supports & services - Flexes & forward region material is smeared. Most stave matrial is described in detail - Estimate the amount of material in flexes from drawings: Copper, Kapton, ... - Then the material estimation is translated into X0: amount of matter/interaction seen by particles crossing the material - Sabine has shown to ATLAS that Copper (should have been Aluminium) cables used in the forward region (eta>4) have a huge matrial contribution - For the Alpine layout, the orientation of the mountains allows for a better control of the amount of material at high eta Sebastien: * Module flexes - 4 types of module flexes: M4, M2, M1plane, M1mountain = plane, mountain and transition region - Prefered 0.6A powering current. 1.2A is also possible, but needs thicker strips - Needs discussion with Andre and Nicolas M. to design the final prototype - Manage to have a simpler procss by getting rid of mechanical bending - Folding still needed. Also allows for additional degrees of freedom in case of thermal shrinkage - Waiting for the outline of the sensors (Andre asked Giovanni from LPNHE) but also constraints from DCS - Module flex connectors are going out on the plain transition module side - Bandwidth is 5.12 Gb/s for layers 0 & 1. See column U of attached document "Services estimate" * Stave flexes - New design has 3 independent flexes: 7*M4, 7*M2 & 7*M2 - Double sided flex 9/75/9 micro meter. Thinner flex are possible but *10 more expensive - First modules delivered, assembled and tested sometime in April - Jean-Marc will need a layer 2 mockup prototype White room discussion: - We have 10k euros budget but it needs to be asked before 15th of December - Andre will write a list of points to do - Pierre will come up with the associated numbers - We should include the lead fort and a safe in the list
