Description
[séminaire en français]

The ATLAS Collaboration comprises 3000 physicists from 174 institutions in 38 nations around the globe. Over the past 20 years, this diverse and globally distributed group of individuals has been succeeding in designing, constructing, installing, testing and running one of the largest and most complex scientific devices known to mankind. Currently, even with the vast majority of its members still located at their home institutions, all are able to actively participate in the analysis of data and the subsequent publication of results. While the motivation of these scientists to investigate and understand the inner workings of the universe is, of course, the primary reason for success, the installation and prolific usage of collaborative tools has played a vital role.

I present an overview of the tools that have been developed and installed at CERN and at the institutes to facilitate communication and information sharing. These include audio and video conferencing installations and systems, lecture archival, digital signage, webcasting and content management systems. I will spend some extra time describing the recent evaluation of the Vidyo video conferencing system, as a potential replacement for EVO for the LHC, and present the status of current testing and development of web pages based on Drupal.
