Description

After an introduction to the concept of black hole in general relativity and the no-hair theorem, I will discuss the high-angular-resolution observations of the vicinity of the event horizon of Sgr A*, the Galactic central black hole. Such observations have just started and are performed by two major instruments: the VLTI/GRAVITY interferometer and the Event Horizon Telescope. They should allow us to test both (i) the black hole nature of the central object and (ii) general relativity in the strong field regime.
